Our presence at FAMEX 2021
Galileo Information Centre was represented last September at the most important aeronautical event in Latin America.
The Aerospace Fair of Mexico (FAMEX 2021) was held for four days and had 317 exhibitors from companies, universities, aeronautical experts and the Armed Forces. This edition of the fair, which managed to take place really well organised despite all the setbacks due to the health emergency, was notable for the enthusiastic cooperation of its participants.
The Galileo Information Centre for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean was present at the Mexican Space Agency Pavilion on 22 September, carrying out activities to promote the EGNSS programmes, in particular Galileo, to the entire aeronautical industry present there.
Our colleague Dr. José Alberto Ramírez, accompanied by other members of the UNAM, who are part of the Galileo Information Centre team, were able to explain to FAMEX attendees at first hand the European satellite navigation systems, emphasising the differential characteristics of Galileo compared to other existing global systems. The interest shown by both students from the region and companies from the aeronautical and aerospace sector in learning about the benefits that these systems can provide in numerous market segments was remarkable.
The event has served to give enormous visibility to the European EGNSS programmes, having generated contacts with many companies and institutions on the American continent, which are already aware of what the Galileo constellation, for example, is capable of.
