Fourth session of the Working Groups held in December

The fourth session of the Working Group focused on "The materialisation of a business idea” was held on the 13th of December 2022 for the three of the working groups

The aim of this meeting was to facilitate the development of GNSS-related applications through the description of the different stages to materialize an idea:

  1. select the idea to realize
  2. identify the market of the idea and
  3.  define the products and services of the idea.

As a first step in describing these stages, the winning solutions of the #GalileoGICkathon 2022 were presented by the team members, as an example of potential ideas to materialize them. For each idea, the cost-benefit that will be generated once materialized was presented too.

For a better explanation of the second stage, consisting of defining the market where the product or service will be made available, exposing the idea in the market and defining the return on investment in the pessimistic, normal and optimistic scenario, a real case of the realisation of a business idea was provided: Radio aid calibration with drones.

Then, in order to materialize the idea is critical to raise the possibility of seeking funds. Dr. Alberto Ramirez from UNAM described the funds and support from CONACYT.

Finally, the working document from the working groups was presented. This report presents a concise analysis of the main GNSS and in particular, Galileo based applications with potential use in different economic sectors for the target countries (Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean). The intention of this analysis is to identify GNSS applications for the objective market segments identified within the market analysis performed at the beginning of the project (also successful applications developed in Europe could help to select the objective market segments and the applications with more potential). People who attended the session were asked to submit comments on the document and were encouraged to complete a survey to provide a reference with the most up-to-date needs and requirements of GNSS users in various market segments in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

The agenda of the session is show below.
