First GIC Mexico & AEM Industry day!
The Galileo Information Centre (GIC) together with the Mexican Space Agency (AEM) organized the first industry Day during the FAMEX 2023, the Mexican Aeronautic Fair which convened representative actors of the aerospace sector in a national and international context.
This 1-day Industry Day event, which took place on the 27th of April 2023, offered participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the potential of the Galileo system, the European Union’s global navigation satellite system in combination with other GNSS, but also an overview of advanced air navigation capabilities using satellites, greatly improving the availability and reliability of services.
The event aimed at providing meaningful information about the products and services that use GNSS-based positioning and navigation as a significant enabler in the aviation segment. More specifically the programme included:
- An overview of the GIC and the latest novelties in the EU Space Programme (Galileo, EGNOS and Copernicus) and its latest services (HAS, High Accuracy Service and the upcoming OS-NMA, Navigation Message Autthentication). The coordinator of the Galileo Information Centre, Elena Megias, was in charge of presenting the activities carried out by the centre and the services it provides.
- A round table on GNSS applied to aviation and drones in Latin America. The round table was presided by Francisco Romero, Director of Space Science Research at AEM and the panellist included: Hélène Delfour Cormier, SBAS advanced projects at Thales Alenia Space; Dr. Alberto Ramirez as a representative of the GIC; FEMIA (Aerospace Industry Mexican Federation) and AFAC (Federal Civil Aviation Agency)
- An industrial workshop, a private event by invitation only, presenting value proposition focused on GNSS projects. At this workshop several companies (Thales Alenia Space, Orolia Thrusters Unlimited, ANERPV and Semtech) that are leading the way in GNSS and representing different parts of the GNSS value chain, presented specific information about use cases and projects in which they are involved. Such level of detail provides companies with a better idea of which opportunities to target.
Opportunities for networking
The workshop included a session that provided attendees with time for informal networking with other companies that were attending and could become teaming partners. The opportunity to network with companies that have similar interests bring together companies in a way that promotes thoughtful collaboration and the development of more effective solutions.
