Official EU visit to the Galileo Information Centre for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean
The Ambassador and the delegate of the European Union in Mexico together with members of the Government of Querétaro and the Querétaro Aerocluster visit the GIC Mexico in the High Technology Unit of the UNAM.
The official visit took place on October 24, 2022 and was attended by H.E. Mr. Gautier Mignot (EU ambassador to Mexico), Mr. Sebastián Zaleski (delegate of the EU Economic and Trade Section in Mexico), Mr. Benjamín Aguillón (the representative of the Government of Querétaro – SEDESU) and Mr. Antonio Velázquez (Director of the Aeroclúster of Querétaro).
They visited the Galileo Information Center located in the UNAM High Technology Unit and were accompanied by Dr. José Alberto Ramírez (representative of the GIC in Mexico – UAT, UNAM), Mr. Carlos Romo Fuentes (Coordinator of the UNAM Aerospace Degree) and Mr. Rafael Chávez Moreno (Member of the GIC team in Mexico).
Mr. Luis Cuervo (DG DEFIS), coordinator of the Galileo Information Centers, welcomed, in online format, the attendees and presented the objectives of the different GICs, among which the creation of awareness of the European GNSS services in the areas encompassing the centers and provide support to users in the region in the development of new applications through cooperation with European industry.
Also in online format, Mrs. Elena Megías (coordinator of the Galileo Information Center for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean) presented the activities of the GIC, the potential of Galileo and the added value it provides in numerous market segments.
This interesting visit symbolises the growing importance of European Union and Mexico space relationships and contributes to improving knowledge and the importance of European GNSS systems for the Queretaro business ecosystem and industrial development.
